"My husband and I stopped by to see if it might be a good fit for my mother-in-law. We walked right in ... there was no security and no one in sight. There was a folder marked lab results in a pocket on the door as we walked in. It seemed dark, with little lighting. No residents anywhere in sight. We wandered around for about 10 minutes and never found anyone to help us. There was no cell service so we couldn't call anyone. We pushed the call button to get someone to help us and no one came. I've tried to call multiple times with no answer. I even left a message and no one returned the call. Plus there were urine stains on the couch cushions. Not a good impression of the facility."

"Valley Vista is troubled. \n\nMy family moved into the facility less than 6 months ago, and in that time the administrative staff has completely changed, except for one person. We would start conversations about issues we were experiencing and await a callback from a staff member. When they didn't respond we'd call only to find out that person had quit. "We're experiencing some growing pains," and "I'm sorry, I'm new" are regular excuses from staff members at Valley Vista. \n\nOn 3 separate occasions medical supplies were delivered to the front desk and then stored "in the back room" for days and days. Only to surface when we called the front desk to find out where they were. \n\nCalendars of activities are printed and shared with the community but very often the items on the calendar do not happen. We were invited to attend a special luncheon and arrived to find there was no food and no event. \n\nRegularly the kitchen is out of staples. The excuse is often given "the supplies didn't arrive," as if we were still in the middle of COVID and supply chains were unreliable. \n\nValley Vista has a culture of not taking responsibility for problems. Ask a staff member what happened and often they will either blame it on someone else or deflect it and say they're new. \n\nI question the design of this building as well. The closets are impractical. The showers are dangerous and wheelchairs get stuck in the gap of the elevator. Heating and AC control are also not wheelchair accessible. There is no cell signal in the parking garage and the front desk has to manually walk down the hall to send the the elevator to you. Then you must walk back through the lobby to sign-in. None of it is designed with care for family of the residents.\n\nThe overworked backbone and saving grace of Valley Vista is the care staff. The kindness and intentionality the care staff offers is as if they work at a different place than Valley Vista. I know my family members are in good hands at Valley Vista because of the care staff. I hope the adminstrative staff and building owners take notice and take action toward improving their community's quality."
